2026.03.09 Dialogue with JST：The Essence of Taiwan’s Semiconductor Ecosystem

 

  Today, we had a visit from JST (Japan Science and Technology Agency), so we spoke about the “semiconductor ecosystem.” Simply copying the systems and mechanisms for industry-government-academia collaboration and highly skilled human resource development won’t get us anywhere. We discussed how nothing can be achieved without understanding the concept of building a prosperous country through mutual cooperation, which is at the heart of Taiwan’s ecosystem. The word ”經濟” used in Taiwan goes beyond the Western frameworks of “money management” and “efficient production and consumption,” and strongly reflects the traditional idea of political and social salvation, “governing the world and benefiting the people.” This is the social structure known as the ecosystem in Taiwan.

 

2026.03.09【JSTとの対話】台湾半導体エコシステムの本質とは何か

 

    本日はJST（科学技術振興機構）の方々にお越しいただき、「半導体エコシステム」についてお話をさせていただきました。産官学連携や高度人材育成といった制度や仕組みをそのまま真似しても何も始まりません。台湾のエコシステムの根幹である、相互協力による豊かな国家づくりという理念を理解しなければ何も達成できないことを議論しました。台湾で使われる「經濟」という言葉は、西洋の「金銭管理」や「効率的な生産・消費」といった枠組みを超え、「天下を治め民を利する」という伝統的な政治・社会救済の理念を強く反映しています。これが台湾におけるエコシステムと呼ばれる社会構造なのです。
